I believe that school administrators should consider year-round schooling. It has many advantages, including:
1. Students in the U.S. lag behind their counter-parts in other countries. For example, in China, students spend 30 percent more time in school than students do in the United States.
2. A study in Massachusetts showed that all high-performing schools expanded their learning time.
3. 2/3 of all families have either two full-time working parents or are headed by a single-working parent. It's therefore hard for a working parent to take care of his or her child.
4. Studies have shown that students lose much of their knowledge during the summer break. Year-round school would enable students to keep their knowledge and not lose it.
5. Going to YRS's may also improve discipline.
